2106.1.1 Seismic Design

Washington State Masonry Code Amendments

1405.5.2 Seismic requirements. Anchored masonry veneer located in Seismic Design Category C,  D, E, or F shall conform to the requirements of Section 6.2.2.10, except Section 6.2.2.10.3.2, of the ACI 530/ASCE 5/TMS 402.

2106.1.1 Seismic design.  
Exception: Special reinforced masonry shear walls are not required to comply with Section 1.14.2.2.5(a) of ACI 530/ASCE 5/TMS 402 (MSJC-05), provided the masonry resists the calculated shear without shear reinforcement.

2108.2 Headed and bent-bar anchor bolts. ACI 530/ASCE 5/TMS 402, Section 3.1.6. Modify Section 3.1.6 as follows:

3.1.6 Headed and bent-bar anchor bolts. All embedded bolts shall be grouted in place, except that 1/4 inch (6.4 mm) diameter bolts are permitted to be placed in bed joints that are at least 1/2 inch (12.7 mm) in thickness.

Oregon State Masonry Code Amendments

1402.1 Anchored masonry veneer. Veneer secured with approved mechanical fasteners to an approved backing. Type and spacing of fasteners shall be noted on construction documents.

1405.5.2 Seismic requirements. Anchored masonry veneer located in Seismic Design Category C, D, E, or F shall conform to the requirements of Section 6.2.2.10, except Section 6.2.2.10.3.2, of ACI 530/ASCE 5/TMS 402. Mechanically attached anchors to the joint reinforcement, as required in ACI 530/ASCE 5/TMS 402 Section 6.2.2.10.3.3 with clips and hooks, shall be required in Seismic Design Category D, Section 6.2.2.10.2, for occupancy category III and IV.

2104.6 Embedded bolts. All embedded bolts shall be grouted in place.
Exception: Bolts not exceeding 1/4 inch (6.4 mm) diameter are permitted to be placed in bed joints that are at least 1/2 inch (12.7 mm) in thickness.

2104.7 Cleanouts. A minimum clean-out of size 1-1/8" high x 4-1/4" long be provided at the bottom course at each vertical bar for all grout pours over 5 feet (1524 mm) in height. Where cleanouts are not provided, special provisions must be made to keep the bottom and sides of the grout spaces clean and clear prior to grouting.
